Emergency Child Protection Response in Wad Madani Alkobra and Sharg El-Jazira |

Protecting Children and Building Resilience: Child Protection in Emergencies Project in Al-Jazira State

In response to the humanitarian crisis in Al-Jazira State, JASMAR Human Security Organization, in partnership with UNICEF and local authorities, successfully implemented the "Provision of Child Protection Prevention and Response Intervention to Displaced and Most Vulnerable Children and Caregivers" project from July 1, 2025, to March 28, 2026 across Wad Madani Alkobra and Sharg El-Jazira (East Gezira) localities.

Key accomplishments and intervention highlights include:

  • Child-Friendly Spaces (CFSs): Established and operationalized 4 CFSs (EL-Iman, Amna Bint Wahab-Hebika Akout, Nafisa Awad Alkareem, and AL-Safa School Maranjan), providing specialized Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to 1,103 children (489 boys, 614 girls).
  • Case Management & Support: Delivered comprehensive case management and specialized assistance to 126 children at risk (63 girls, 63 boys), including Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC) and Explosive Ordnance (EO) survivors, alongside successful family reunification support for 25 families.
  • Capacity Building: Trained 150 local actors—including social workers, community-based child protection networks (CBCPNs), mobilizers, and teachers—on Case Management, Emergency Psychosocial Support, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention, and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE).
  • Community Outreach & AAP: Conducted extensive awareness sessions on MHPSS reaching 1,385 individuals (530 boys, 840 girls), and distributed 500 Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) communication materials, reaching 962 caregivers and leaders to explain reporting channels and project objectives.

Through strong collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) and local stakeholders, the intervention reinforced community protection systems, improved referral pathways, and ensured continuous life-saving interventions for displaced (IDP) and host community children.
