JASMAR Hands Over Youth Club Center at Shagarab North Camp to Strengthen Community Protection
The JASMAR Organization for Human Security (JASMAR) has handed over the Youth Club Center at Shagarab North Camp in Kassala State, in a significant step toward providing a safe space for young people, promoting their community engagement, and strengthening protection efforts while supporting their psychosocial well-being and stability within the camp.
As part of ongoing efforts to support and empower the most vulnerable groups, a handover meeting for the Youth Club Center was held at Shagarab North Camp in Kassala State. The center was established by the Jasmar Organization for Human Security (JASMAR) under the project titled “Integrated Health and Nutrition Assistance, Child Protection, and Gender Issues for Refugees, Asylum Seekers, and Internally Displaced Persons.”
The initiative was supported by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in coordination with the Commission for Refugees (COR), and attended by representatives of the Youth Club management and the center’s volunteers.
The opening of the center marks a significant milestone in advancing youth-focused initiatives within the camp. It provides a safe space and a platform for community-based protection, facilitating a range of social, sports, and cultural programs and activities. The center will also play a vital role in raising awareness of issues affecting young people and promoting their active participation in their communities.
Participants at the meeting emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships and effective coordination among relevant stakeholders to ensure the continuity of the center’s services and strengthen its developmental and protection roles. These efforts aim to address young people’s needs and aspirations while promoting their psychosocial well-being, stability, and resilience within refugee camps.
