Amid a vibrant celebratory atmosphere marked by creativity and cultural diversity, the Sudanese Folklore and Heritage Troupe participated in the graduation ceremony for participants in the Vocational and Craft Training Programmed. The programmed was implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Guidance of Kassala State and funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) through a project aimed at expanding access to basic and alternative education for displaced children and children from host communities.
The project is being implemented in the localities of Kassala and Wad Al-Heliw (Al-Shagarab), targeting 480 participants across a range of vocational and craft disciplines. It forms part of broader efforts to enhance access to education and training, develop practical skills, and create new opportunities for children and other targeted groups to build a better future.
The Sudanese Folklore and Heritage Troupe brought a distinctive cultural dimension to the ceremony through vibrant rhythms deeply rooted in Sudanese heritage and artistic expressions reflecting the richness and diversity of the country’s cultural traditions. The performance went beyond traditional dances and artistic displays, presenting a living portrait of Sudan’s unity in diversity. It conveyed powerful messages of peace, love, and peaceful coexistence, while highlighting the role of culture and the arts in strengthening social cohesion and fostering a sense of belonging, solidarity, and mutual understanding.
The troupe’s participation also reflected the close connection between the project’s development objectives and its cultural dimension. Vocational skills and artistic creativity came together to demonstrate the human capacity to build, innovate, and drive positive change. The hands that create through crafts and skilled trades are the same hands capable of shaping the future and building a more cohesive and stable society.
The programme comes as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to alternative education and vocational training, empowering participants, strengthening their practical and life skills, and supporting the integration of displaced children and children from host communities into an educational and social environment founded on cooperation, solidarity, and peace.
The participation of the Sudanese Folklore and Heritage Troupe reaffirms that heritage is not merely a memory of the past, but a living message for the present and a source of hope for the future. It carries a powerful reminder that diversity is a source of strength, and that creativity and collective action are essential pathways towards a Sudan defined by peace, harmony, and mutual understanding.
