Kassala – Shagarab Camp: The Youth League at Shagarab Camp has concluded as part of the activities of the Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Project in Kassala State. The project is funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs. The closing event was marked by an atmosphere of enthusiasm, joy, and positive participation.

The closing ceremony featured the presentation of medals and the championship trophy to the winning teams, alongside individual awards recognizing outstanding talents and sporting achievements. These awards celebrated the participants’ performance and skills while encouraging them to continue developing their abilities and embracing the values of fair play and positive competition.

The celebrations continued with a special entertainment performance presented by the Retaj Theatre Group at the Child-Friendly Space. The performance created an atmosphere of joy and engagement, bringing smiles to the faces of children and adolescents in a safe environment where they could express themselves, interact with others, and enjoy recreational activities.

Beyond its sporting dimension, the event provided a safe space for recreation and emotional relief, helping children and adolescents cope with psychological stress while promoting peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and teamwork. It also reinforced child protection principles and supported an environment conducive to their psychological and social development.

The organization of the Youth League forms part of broader efforts to strengthen child protection and prevent gender-based violence through recreational and sporting activities that promote children's psychosocial well-being. It also highlights the importance of providing safe spaces where children and adolescents can participate actively, express themselves freely, and develop their talents and creativity.

Amid the joy of victory and the excitement of play, one message remains clear: every child has an inherent right to play, safety, and hope. A brighter future begins by creating protective environments where children can grow, thrive, and experience the joy of childhood.
