As part of ongoing efforts to support displaced populations and host communities in New Halfa and Al Girba localities, a training session was conducted in Asbri village, New Halfa Locality, to strengthen the capacity of the Water Users Committee, establish its organizational structure, and activate the cost-recovery system to ensure proper maintenance and the long-term sustainability of water services.

As part of ongoing efforts to support displaced populations and host communities in New Halfa and Al Girba localities, several community-based initiatives have been implemented to improve access to essential services, promote economic empowerment, and strengthen community resilience.

In Asbri village, New Halfa Locality, training was provided to the Water Users Committee, alongside efforts to formalize its structure and activate the cost-recovery system to ensure regular maintenance and the long-term sustainability of water services. The activities also included awareness-raising on protection policies and reporting mechanisms.

Meanwhile, in Village 19 Iskan, the establishment of two savings and lending groups was completed, along with the formation of their executive committees, to promote economic empowerment and strengthen the financial capacity of community members.

These interventions were carried out under the Emergency Needs Response Project for Displaced Populations and Host Communities, funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in coordination with the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources through the Department of Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension.

The project aims to improve access to water and health services, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen local peacebuilding efforts.
