Soap Making Project in Nile River State

Under the UNICEF-funded MAKANA project, JASMAR Human Security Organization trained 800 School Health Club members across 32 schools in River Nile State on local soap production, empowering youth to serve as community hygiene ambassadors.

As part of the "Enhance Community Resilience with Basic WASH Services" (MAKANA) project running from January to November 2026, JASMAR Human Security Organization, with support from UNICEF, successfully delivered practical soap-making training to 800 School Health Club members and their families across Atbara, Abu Hamad, and El Buhaira localities in River Nile State. Reaching 32 targeted schools—with 25 Health Club members participating per school—the initiative equipped participants with hands-on technical skills using locally available materials, covering quality control, safe manufacturing, packaging, and storage. By combining critical WASH promotion with sustainable livelihood skills, these trained students are now acting as hygiene ambassadors within their schools and households, promoting proper handwashing and driving local ownership for healthier, more resilient communities.
